DCCC Dominates 8-2 Over Lehigh Carbon at Home

Delaware and Chester Counties, PA— Delaware County Community College rolled to an 8-2 win over Lehigh Carbon Community College, sweeping the head-to-head season series. The men's soccer Phantoms are now 3-2-0 in conference play with a 3-3-0 overall record.

Up just 2-1 shortly after the break, the Phantoms unleashed a flurry of second-half scoring, building momentum from a jog to a juggernaut. "We had a little bit of a slow start, but then they found their rhythm and delivered a great team effort," said Head Coach Andrew Flood. "Everyone contributed in every aspect." Bryam Tierra paralleled his team's eight goals with eight saves.

After falling to Bucks County 5-0 last week, the Phantoms had taken a few days off and then bounced back. "We needed to find our identity again on our home field—and we did that," Flood said.

Michael Haley assisted on a pair of goals and scored one of his own. Coach Flood praised "Michael and Lawrence [Buigbo] for pacing the game and dominating the middle of the field."

Abdul Sheriff and Alvin Gayee each scored twice. "They did an excellent job maintaining possession and taking advantage of all the opportunities given to them," Flood added. "Mohamed [Kamara] kept opportunities scarce for Lehigh Carbon." Kamara, Kofil Ohi, and Diyor Hakberdiyev rounded out DCCC's scoring.

The Phantoms take on RCSJ Cumberland on the road on Thursday. "It's a big game and we need to come out with our foot on the gas," said Flood. The team will be back at home October 1, hosting Northampton. Flood acknowledges challenges ahead and plans balanced preparedness.

"We don't want to look too far ahead; it's one game at a time," he said. "We're also enjoying this game."
