Trio of Phantoms Named to All-Conference Squad

Delaware and Chester Counties, PA—Three members of the Delaware County Community College men's soccer team earned a spot on the first team when the Eastern Pennsylvania Athletic Conference (EPAC) released its all-conference squad on Tuesday. Garnering all-conference recognition were Henry Gjergo, Sidikie Konneh, and John Lenart.

Starting every contest of the season, Gjergo led the Phantoms in goals (9), points (19), shots on goal (53) and total shots (88) during the 2021 campaign. His season-high three goals on Oct. 8 spearheaded DCCC to a 3-0 shutout of host Williamson College of the Trades.

Gjergo's exceptional efforts on offense put him among the national leaders in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA), as he finished the regular season ranked second nationally in total shots among all Division III players. The all-conference announcement comes on the heels of Gjergo just being named to the Region XIX 2021 Division III All-Region Second Team.

A physical presence up front for the Phantoms, Konneh ranked second on the team in goals (4), shots (22), and shots on goal (16). A two-goal performance by Konneh on Sept. 30 helped the Phantoms rally past the visiting Montgomery County Community College Mustangs, 2-1.

Lenart proved to be an indispensable presence in the midfield for the Phantoms as he did whatever it took to help DCCC be successful. Tallying three goals on the season, Lenart went 2-for-2 in penalty kick conversions. The second-year midfielder also topped the team in assists (3).
