Phantoms Earn Split With Ocean County

Toms River, NJ—Delaware County Community College recorded its second consecutive walk-off win in the first game of a doubleheader at Ocean County College. Down 12-11 in the bottom of the ninth, the Phantoms' Izaah Perocier came through in the clutch with a two-run double to seal the 13-12 comeback victory.
DCCC's offense racked up 15 hits in the high-scoring contest. Josh Claycomb led the charge, going 4-for-5 at the plate. Perocier (3), Benjamin Beasley (2), Gabriel Murphy (2), and Michael Turner (2) also recorded multi-hit performances. After driving in three runs and swiping three of the team's four stolen bases, Landyn Washington opened the ninth-inning scoring after getting hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, bringing the Phantoms within one and setting the table for Perocier's game winner.
On the mound, Hunter Whitten earned the win with a scoreless ninth inning. Brady Kopishke started the game, tossing five innings and allowing six runs (five earned) on 11 hits. Jeremy Cronin and Claycomb also saw time in relief.
Despite a strong offensive showing led by Murphy, the Phantoms fell to Ocean 17-10 in the second game of the midweek series. Whitten started on the mound for DCCC, allowing 14 earned runs on 16 hits over six and one-third innings while striking out two.
Murphy had a standout performance at the plate, going 3-for-5 with a home run and four RBIs. The Phantoms tallied 16 hits as a team with Whitten, Kopishke, Steven Perez II, and Michael Turner each recording two hits. Washington got the Phantoms on the board early with a sacrifice fly in the first inning, and Murphy's two-run homer in the second tied the game at 3-3.
DCCC hosts the RCSJ-Gloucester Roadrunners on Friday, April 25, at Phantoms Field on its Marple Campus (901 S Media Ln Rd, Media, PA).
